Manorswood Veterinary Clinic is a well-established, fast-growing veterinary practice which is part of a group of multiple practices across Johannesburg. We’re passionate about delivering outstanding care to our animal patients and genuine warmth to the people who love them. As we grow, we’re looking for an organised, personable receptionist to be the friendly first point of contact across our practices.
The Role
We’re looking for a Veterinary Receptionist to work across multiple Johannesburg branches, providing front-desk support, exceptional client service, and administrative assistance to our veterinary teams. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who loves people and their pets, thrives in a busy environment, and enjoys variety in their working week.
Working Hours
This role is worked on a shift basis between 7am and 7pm, covering our Johannesburg branches. Shifts alternate weekly between an early and a late shift, on a rotating roster.
Key Responsibilities
- Welcome clients and patients warmly, in person and telephonically, across our Johannesburg branches
- Schedule, confirm, and manage appointments
- Process payments, invoices, and account queries accurately
- Maintain accurate patient and client records on our practice management system
- Handle prescription requests, referrals, and follow-up communications
- Manage a busy switchboard and respond to email enquiries promptly
- Support the veterinary and nursing teams with general administrative duties
- Assist with stock ordering, filing, and day-to-day administration
- Travel between allocated branches as required by the roster
What We're Looking For
- A caring, professional manner with clients
- A genuine love of animals
- Matric (Grade 12) essential
- Previous reception, customer service, or veterinary/animal-care experience preferred
- Comfortable with practice management software (e.g. AviMark, ezyVet, or similar), or a fast learner
- Excellent communication skills in English; additional local languages an advantage
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to stay calm under pressure
- A valid driver’s licence and own reliable transport, as this role covers multiple branches
- Willingness to work a rotational roster, including every second Saturday
